LARGE PIGEON LOFT IN QOTUR
Go there and contact
The Qotur dovecote, with its 30 or so adobe domes, follows a tradition of pigeon breeding dating back to antiquity.
The tradition of pigeon breeding dates back to antiquity in Egypt, and the Delta abounds in pigeon houses, each more impressive than the next, especially in the town of Mit Gamhra, closer to Port Said. Nevertheless, the pigeon loft of Qotur, composed of about thirty adobe domes, by the castle-like appearance that the ensemble gives, makes the greatest impression. Thousands of pigeons live in these houses. They are now destined to be eaten. Pigeon, stuffed with rice, is indeed one of the main dishes of Egyptian cuisine.
