Large mastaba in a necropolis on the north side of the Teti pyramid, renowned for its depictions of birds and animals.
-2330. Kagemni was Pharaoh Teti's minister. His large mastaba was discovered in 1843. Located on the north side of the pyramid of Teti at Saqqara in the western necropolis of the 6th Dynasty nobles, it is famous for its depictions of birds and animals. It is huge, with only a small number of decorated rooms. The bas-reliefs are of better quality than those at Mererouka. Some of the frescoes still retain some of their color. This is a superb mastaba, not to be missed if you want to understand the funerary art of the pharaohs.
