Panagia Platytera is a monastery built in 1743, especially known because the tomb of Ioannis Kapodistrias, the first Greek head of state who was originally from Corfu, is located there. In the church, two remarkable icons of the archangels Michael and Gabriel. Two other great figures of Corfu are buried in these places: the historian Andreas Moustoksidis and a hero of the wars of independence, Fotis Tzavellas.
