CORFU ENGLISH CEMETERY
English cemetery in Corfu with sculptures, works of art and various species of orchids.
Dating from the 19th century, the English cemetery contains nearly 500 graves of British citizens. It is a place of memory and culture. Indeed, the cemetery is full of sculptures and works of art, such as the statue Panagia Klaioussa (the Weeping Virgin). Twelve soldiers who died during the Second World War on the island are also buried there. But what makes the place so charming is its rich vegetation: in the cemetery alone, more than 30 species of orchids grow!
