Due to COVID-19, everyone was uncertain and not prepared for any action. However, the hotel provided all the required services even in this difficult situation. We are the only resident during our stay (all other bookings were cancelled) but hotel still provided a full service. This made us very welcomed and made our journey very pleasant.
I do not know how to word this better but I wouldn’t be surprised that this hotel rated as 5 STARs in google. Whichever the rate is, I will give the highest rate.
I appreciate for all again and will come back again when this nasty COVID19 disappears!
The room (Tawny 3) was nice and spacious for a European city but it was directly next to the staff room that serviced the hotel with linens, cleaning, things for the kitchen and it was SO loud - lots of banging and slamming doors. After a few lovely hotels, the staff were barely engaged in answering questions and it took 25 min to get breakfast which was not very good. I think it was a fine hotel but unless you’re set on this exact location, I would not say this hotel is worth the price.
Pros: sparklingly clean!! Great location on the water, right on Ribeiro Square. Nice view of Douro River and Gaia from Vintage room. Comfortable bed/linens. Nice bathroom with good hot water and water pressure. Very nice breakfast with great view, excellent service, and good vegetarian options. Elevator inside very helpful for luggage. Service overall was friendly and outstanding.
Cons: Can be noisy. Shutters helped, but there was loud voices/laughter, music, and traffic noise until 2am during the Wed and Thurs nights that we stayed. Can’t drive or be dropped off directly in front of hotel; have to carry bags about 100m downhill on cobblestones and walk back up same way.
Bottom line: Highly recommend unless you’re a very light sleeper. There is some walking involved, but all of Porto is hilly so this is not unusual. We would definitely stay here again.
Chambre confortable manques juste un peu d'insonorisation.
