PRATO DELLA VALLE
Square that served to Saint Anthony as a place of prayer with a green island in the shape of an ellipse called Memmia with statues.
This huge forum was originally a Roman theater. Saint Anthony used to come here to pray and preach. Abandoned after his death, the site was reborn in 1775, when it was decided to build a green island in the shape of an ellipse, called Memmia. This island is crossed by four alleys and four bridges. It is surrounded by a canal whose banks are decorated with 78 statues representing famous local personalities. Prato della Valle is still dear to the hearts of its inhabitants, who make it a favorite place for walks.
