A bewildering brewery of beauty, where the chic, country cuisine enchants, as does its location in the heart of a rare vineyard.
Venissa was born of the Bisol family's desire to revive lagoon farming. The property welcomes visitors for an exceptional culinary experience. In the kitchen, the chef's suggestions vary with the seasons, with particular attention paid to the refinement of the products. Venissa has been awarded the Michelin Green Star for its commitment to sustainable practices. The wine comes directly from Mazzorbo, from the restaurant's own vineyard.

The boat ride to the restaurant was beautiful and a great way to start the evening. On arrival we had some sparkling wine. Sitting at the chef's table was interesting as you saw the food plated (but couldn't really see any cooking) and got to speak with the chefs who were lovely, particularly Chiara.
We had some dishes that were very nice but overall the food was maybe a little underwhelming. There is a focus on dishes featuring invasive species to help remove them from the lagoon. This philosophy is interesting and I guess a factor in them having the green Michelin star. Unfortunately we felt some of the dishes didn't deliver in flavour but they were all beautifully presented.
One issue that was hugely frustrating though was how small the serving of wine was for each course on the wine pairing. See the photo for a serving before any had been drunk. Unfortunately we got only two small sips per course so you feel you have to ration the wine and don't want to even taste any before the food arrives. On one occasion I asked for a little more but they didn't seem to like this.
When we finished the meal we asked for our bill and it had some drinks on we hadn't ordered. They took the bill away to change it but this took a while and they were telling us we had to go because the boat was ready for the return journey but they still hadn't given us the correct bill.
In summary okay but the tiny serving of wine for the pairing really spoiled things. If you spend €800+ you should get a reasonable amount to drink for each course so you can relax and enjoy it.
