CHIESA DI SAN MARTINO
A church with a remarkable campanile and a miraculous sarcophagus in Burano.
Rest assured, the San Martino bell tower will not fall down! Even if it is dangerously tilted (due to an earthquake), it has been standing since the 16th century. 1.83 m separates its summit from its base! Square in cross-section, ending with an arrow, it is 53 metres high. Inside you can admire a painting by Giambattista Tiepolo depicting the Crucifixion of Christ (1725), as well as the miraculous sarcophagus containing the relics of Saints Alban, Dominic and Bear, who are said to have saved the inhabitants of Burano from the plague of 1630.
