LA CHAPELLE DU SOUVENIR
Art Deco chapel built in 1926 and decorated with frescoes by Émile Beaume and stained glass by Louis Barillet
An art-deco treasure set in the grounds of the current Collège Saint-Thomas d'Aquin (the former "Petit Séminaire"), the Chapelle du Souvenir, built in reinforced concrete in 1926, will reopen to the public this summer after a lengthy restoration. The stained glass windows are the work of Louis Barillet, a master glassworker responsible for some of the stained glass windows in the churches of La Carneille and L'Aigle, as well as the Basilica of Montligeon. The façade-tribute, the "a fresco" frescoes by Emile Beaume, the aisle of saints and the suspended chapels form a unique whole.
