A huge complex covering 234 hectares, with one- to three-bedroom apartments and villas ranging from 120 to 200 m².

Created ex from in 2004 around the golf of the same name, this huge 234 ha complex did not have to look very far to find its identity: the myth of Aphrodite and Antiquity. For style, the architects enjoyed the magnificent kitsch, with marble, mouldings and full of false Greco-Roman statues. The bling version-bling of garden dwarfs somehow. As well, the rich can have bad taste… Good, we stop making our jaloux. Here's what you find in this luxurious location, located 15 minutes drive from Paphos Airport (and it's even closer by helicopter).

Rentals. First, apartments from one to three bedrooms, with kitchen and living room equipped (TV, smoking…). Then villas from 120 to 200 m 2 with or without swimming pool. Apartments and villas are divided into five «villages» with evocative names (Ariadne, Adonis…) each with their own «communal» swimming pool. And, the must, the even more exclusive villas of 250 m 2, spread throughout the complex around the golf course, with each pool. Rentals are for two nights minimum. A villa for 4 people with swimming pool negotiates at € 440 per night in August. Two nights minimum.

Properties for sale. The management of the complex proposes to sell some of its apartments and villas for rent. But it also built a zone of 69 villas only reserved for sale (Alexander Village). Price on request. Rens: +357 26 828 050 and www.aphroditehillsproperties.com

Hotel Intercontinental. It is the only establishment of the British hotel chain in the country. It offers 290 luxurious rooms, including 6 suites with private swimming pool, 13 with Jacuzzi and one with swimming pool and Jacuzzi. The whole is superb. The raw stone and water are the two main elements with many fountains. The rooms are richly decorated. There are several bars and restaurants, two swimming pools, a fitness centre, etc. Guests of the hotel have access to all the services (pay) of the complex, including the golf course, located next door. Double room from 250 € in August.

Sports activities. Besides golf, Aphrodite Hills Resort features a Mountain Biking course, a mini-golf course, four tennis courts with club house, a riding centre, a fitness centre. Activities are also proposed outside: water sports, diving, climbing, etc.

Restaurants and services. Close to the «villages», a central square includes restaurants, a pub, a glacier, shops, an information centre (with car rental), an arcade games room, a children's club with a 24-hour baby sitters and a spa with massages.

Having visited the spa retreat on many occasions in the past, this was my go to venue for complete relaxation and a massage. However, when spending a full day, the very least I would expect for the price paid is a choice of beaverges. We had to walk to the nearby coffee shop in our robes and slippers to purchase our own drinks and snacks - otherwise, we might have left much sooner than we planned feeling very annoyed, frustrated and not having received the full service you would expect for the high purchase price. The staff seemed more interested in us leaving reviews at the end of our visit instead of making sure sure we were satisfied whilst we were there.

This resort has certainly gone down hill since the new management took over. We had stayed in this resort for our past 3 visits to Cyprus and were never disappointed. The new management now seems to focus more on making profit than on clients satisfaction. The units we stayed in (CB11) was dated with bath tub that was so thin that it buckles when one stand on it. In our previous visits the units used to be cleaned twice per week but this time in our 12 nights stay the unit was only cleaned once. The items sold int he grocery store in the resort was also a lot more expensive than in the normal supermarket, so avoid this tourist trap if you got a rented car to shop elsewhere. A tip - AlphaMega supermarket now does online order and delivery if the order is over €50.
Our worse experience this trip however was on the last day. I called the reception the night before our check out time to ask if we can check out slightly later as our flight was not until the evening. By the way, the check in time is 2 PM which is standard nowadays but the check out time is 10 AM!. I requested if we can check out at 11 AM or 12 Midday which should still allow them to have plenty of time to clean the apartment for the next guest. The receptionist told me that it was not possible to extend our stay as there was a back-to-back booking for our apartment and he said that “even if I wanted to help you, I cannot.” He said there are other vacant units if we want to move and use it for a day for a fee of €300. So I said no to that and that we will leave on time. The next morning we all woke up early at 7:30 AM to have breakfast and packed. However at 9:52 AM there was a knock from the cleaner. She said she was told to start cleaning. That was 8 minutes before our supposed check out time!. We were so upset. We moved our luggages out and went to the reception to complained. When we arrived at the reception, it was shut! There was an electrical problem so the front door to the reception could not be opened and I had to wait in the hot sun for them to open. I cannot understand, there are so many units in the resort why was our unit the first one to be cleaned especially as we had requested to extend if possible? The evil night receptionist (on 8th September 2023) must have left a message to the cleaners to make sure that we leave on time. I had travelled widely and stayed in many resorts and this is the first time we had to be shooed out before our check out time!
I hope the management read this frank review and explain to me why we had to be shooed out before our check out time. Aphrodite Hill is not what it used to be. It is has gone down-hill. Stay away from this resort as there are so many others in Paphos that are now much better.
