This beautiful boulevard to the north of Bassano, from which one can enjoy one of the most beautiful views of the city and the surrounding mountains, unfortunately preserves the memory of tragic events that occurred during the Second World War. On September 26, 1943, 31 resistance fighters ( partigiani in Italian) arrested during a raid near Monte Grappa were executed here, most of them hanged from the trees along what is now Viale dei Martiri. Even today, each tree has a commemorative sign with the name and photo of the victim.
