PINELANDS TRAIL
Trail in the middle of the slash pines that used to occupy most of Miami, starting at 11 km from the Ernest Coe Visitor Center
Passing through the pines, the 0.4-mile (650 m) trail allows for the observation of more than 200 species of plants, about 30 of which are unique to South Florida. This area of slash pine is a remnant of a glorious past for the species. Indeed, a century ago, slash pines occupied most of Miami, and many towns along the East Coast were just vast forests. The trail is accessible to people with limited mobility. The Pinelands Trail starts 11 km from the Ernest Coe Visitor Center.
