CASTELLO DI THIENE
Castle with two towers in the center of Thiene with Gothic characteristics.
In the center of Thiene stands the Castello, or Villa Da Porto-Colleoni, with its vast loggia surrounded by two towers. It combines the Gothic characteristics of a medieval castle with those of a Venetian palace. Built at the end of the 15th century, the residence impresses with its high crenellated walls. Inside the site, family portraits decorate the noble floor. An exterior chapel completes the ensemble. In this villa-castle, the film The Merchant of Venice was shot in 2004, with Al Pacino, Joseph Fiennes and Jeremy Irons in the title roles.
