PALACIO DE LAS MÁSCARAS
Palace completed with anthropomorphic sculptures representing the kings of the city in Kabah.
The Codz-Poop, the Mayan name for the building which means "rolled mat", is the main building on the site. It stands on an artificial platform; its western façade is covered with three hundred sculpted heads representing the god of Rain Chac, over a Greek one of intertwined snakes; the faces of the god of crop protection are themselves covered with triangular motifs. It is completed with anthropomorphic sculptures representing the kings of the city. It is the Puuc style pushed to its limits.
