Barbadians and horses, it's a great love story. Every year, crowds flock to one of the most prestigious horse races in the Caribbean: the Sandy Lane Gold Cup. Sponsored by the equally prestigious Sandy Lane Hotel, it takes place at the historic Garrison Savannah Racetrack and attracts the world's finest jockeys. Mounted on the finest thoroughbreds, they compete over a distance of 1,800 meters to win the famous cup. And this being Barbados, music and parades are the order of the day!
