KENSINGTON OVAL
This temple of cricket serves as Barbados' national stadium. Located just outside Bridgetown, it has been played here since 1882. Renovated in 2007, this contemporary structure is a real eye-catcher, with a grandstand resembling binoculars. It is the venue for major events in Barbadians' favorite sport, such as the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in June 2024, as well as soccer matches and Crop Over festivities. A statue of Sir Garfield Sobers, legendary player and national hero, greets visitors at the entrance to the Oval, and the players' pavilion bears his name.
