PARLIAMENT BUILDINGS
The Parliament buildings are more reminiscent of Albion than the Caribbean. Although the Barbados Parliament has been in existence since 1639, it didn't find its definitive home until the present buildings were erected between 1870 and 1874, at the height of the Victorian era (when the Gothic Revival style was in vogue). It comprises a clock tower, a west wing housing the two Houses of Parliament (the Assembly and the Senate) and a wing housing the Museum of Parliament and the Gallery of Heroes, which are unfortunately currently closed. A local touch: the louvered windows.
