Hippodrome south of Bridgetown, with a very British atmosphere, hosting horse races and various events.
Located south of Bridgetown, the former Garrison Drill Hall has been hosting horse racing events since 1845, and is home to the Barbados Turf Club. Races are held in three main seasons: January to April, May to September, and November to December, the most prestigious being the Sandy Lane Gold Cup. A very British atmosphere prevails. If you don't want to sit in the grandstands at the racecourse, you can picnic in the shade of the trees. Various events are also held here, such as the Independence Day military parade.
