On the left bank of the Constitution River, across the Chamberlain Bridge, this vast downtown square is one of Bridgetown's landmarks. It's at the foot of the statue of Errol Walton Barrow, father of Barbadian independence, that we meet. Like the Bajans, you can enjoy the shade of the tall trees and take time to admire the boats and yachts moored at the Careenage, or the movement of the bridge as it rises and falls with the passing ships. The square is also bustling with street vendors.
