Tyrol Cot Heritage Village
This late 19th-century house and grounds is significant for Barbados, as it was the residence of Sir Grantley Adams, the first Prime Minister of Barbados before the declaration of independence. On the death of Lady Adams in 1990, the property was taken over by the Barbados National Trust. Although the pretty Coral stone house can no longer be visited, the gardens (including Sir Adams' rose garden) are delightful. They house an open-air museum where 7 examples of traditional architecture have been reconstructed, including a slave hut.
