The Dutch have a talent for blending the old with the new: de Waag is a perfect example! This is the former public weighing house, built to plans by Pieter Post, designer of the Maastricht Town Hall and the Mauritshuis in The Hague. Built between 1667 and 1657, it replaces a previous wooden scale. Classically styled, it was here that merchants weighed their wares for centuries before selling them. Today, it houses a restaurant. A place worth visiting.
