LUNA AZUL
A charming boutique hotel with beautifully decorated bungalows, infinity pool, massages and a very good restaurant
A small jewel in Playa Ostional, which is ideally located to watch the arribadas show, the arrival of the turtles during their nesting on this famous beach. French-speaking welcome by Rolf and Andreas, two Swiss, originally zoologist and doctor in homeopathy. The decoration of the bungalows, the beautiful infinity pool with sea view, the massages and the very good restaurant of this charming boutique-hotel will make you spend an unforgettable stay! A highly recommended address.

The infinity pool looks out over the ocean in the distance as well as beautiful sunsets. The rooms are in bungalows, each nestled in the jungle with private views from the back deck. Indeed, I am writing this while sitting in a rocking chair, smelling the sweet scent of nature and watching howler monkeys casually traverse the tree tops. The bathroom door opens to a spacious and clean room with a toilet and sink which is open to the outside…but the best part is the shower which, while completely private, makes you feel like you are showering outside in nature. The back deck is also spacious with an overhead ceiling fan as well as two comfortable wooden chairs and two wooden/leather rocking chairs. They are so comfortable I want to bring them home with me!
The hotel currently only serves breakfast and dinner. Breakfast is a large spread with coffee, yogurt and granola, fresh fruit, fresh bread, eggs done as requested with bacon or ham as well as the traditional Costa Rican rice and beans. The dinner menu is small and changes every night but each curated dish is sure to please the palate.
If you are looking for a place to party, please don’t come here. But if you are looking for peace and tranquility, the ability to commune with nature, beautiful rustic surroundings and staff that are so attentive they all learn your name, then please do come here. It is well worth the drive.
