A great celebration linked to the discovery of the icon of the Virgin of Amorgos, at the Hozoviotissa monastery, on November 21.

A great celebration takes place in Amorgos, at the monastery of Hozoviotissa. Built on a steep cliff just 5 m wide, it faces the Aegean Sea 40 m above sea level. Built by the Byzantine emperor Alexis Comnenus, its creation is linked to the discovery of the icon of the Virgin Mary. It comes to life on the day of the Presentation of the Virgin, November 21. For the occasion, the monks host a grand dinner in the refectory.
