Sées is one of the few episcopal towns to have preserved part of its canonical quarter.
Sées is one of the few episcopal cities to have preserved part of its canonical quarter, where the cathedral's canons lived to serve the diocese. In the 13th century, the district was made up of courtyards and buildings where the canons' community life took place. Their livelihood depended on the development of episcopal lands. In the 16th century, when the community life of the canons became more flexible, individual dwellings and barns were created. Today, the former cloister is used for cultural events.
