SAINT-AUBIN CHURCH

Of Romanesque origin, the church was rebuilt during the 15th and 16th centuries with its bell-tower-porch surmounted by a campanile dome and its main nave panelled with exposed roofing. From the Romanesque period only the old porch and the small bays on the south wall of the nave remain. Two stained glass windows from the end of the 19th century tell the story of the departure for Quebec around 1650 of more than 80 families from Tourouvre and the surrounding area, and the visit of the Quebec Prime Minister Honoré Mercier in 1891 (following in the footsteps of his grandfather who was originally from the commune).
