In parallel to the sale of the Hospices, the half-marathon of the sale of Beaune wines has over the years become a sporting event and an essential event for many regional, national and international runners. Every year for the past thirty-four years, more than 4,000 participants have taken part in the 21,100 km long athletic course. The half-marathon of the Hospices de Beaune wine sale follows the hilly and typical roads of the Côte de Beaune vineyards. The runners cross the most prestigious places and villages of Burgundy (Pommard, Meursault, Volnay) and the start is located just next to the famous Hospices. The beauty and fame of the sites crossed are combined with the friendliness and folklore of this event.
