Very nice walk in the heart of the Pineland archaeological site with free visits to the Randell Research Center
The Colusa Heritage Trail is a beautiful walk through the Pineland archaeological site, following in the footsteps of the Calusa Indians. Known as the Shell Indians, the members of this tribe of nearly 50,000 people ruled Southwest Florida. The first written records of them date back to 1513, in a report by Spanish explorers, and they clashed violently. Visits are free. A selection of books and gifts are available at the Randell Research Center.
