This resort offers rooms and apartments (1 to 3 bedrooms) perfectly furnished, spacious and nicely decorated in an "old Florida" style. As far as equipment is concerned, you won't lack anything. Everything is there: fridge, microwave, coffee maker, wifi... As for relaxation, you will enjoy two pleasant swimming pools on site, but also a quick access to the sea, with loan of beach chairs, towels and umbrellas. A very beautiful, green and peaceful establishment, the perfect base for exploring the island of Anna Maria in complete peace.

Tortuga inn is a hidden gem on a beautiful island. It has its own private beach equipped with beach chairs. A huge pergola with tables and chairs that over looks the beach. Theres a dock outback right on the bay. Many restaurants within walking distance. There's a free trolley that will take you anywhere on the island. The upkeep is amazing and the STAFF IS GREAT! There is tons of diff options for room sizes, and their prices are reasonable. They also run specials during the summer! Highly recommend!

Beware when booking this property, they have two different buildings. It's not clear on the website which location you are booking. There is an older "motel" style building called "Palm Court" which is oceanside, and a newer condominium style building on the Bayside. Most of the pictures are of the newer, bayside building.

The property has a lot of potential. Great location, steps to the beach and the palm tree courtyard has tropical, old-Florida vibes. Unfortunately, upon checking into our two-bedroom unit, we were overcome with a strong smell of mold and mildew. We went to notify the office, but they close at 5:30 pm, so we thought the unit just needed to be aired out. After we couldn't rid the smell, I investigated and found the mold/mildew smell was especially strong coming from the lower kitchen cabinets. I found white fuzzy mold growing on all of the pots and pans (handles and lids and all). I suspect this unit had been flooded, and they couldn't get the water up from under the kitchen cabinets so it just sat there causing a mold bloom. Not only was this extremely unpleasant (our luggage still reeks of mold days later), but a health hazard. I'm sure I'm not the first guest to be overcome by the mold and mildew. A moisture problem like that doesn't happen over night and the fact that management hasn't addressed it shows a complete disregard for guests and candidly negligence.

When I was able to notify the office, they apologized and said they would notify the "owner" yet no offer of financial remedy was made as they claimed the units are individually owned. I should have seen the red flags when full prepayment was required at almost $500 per night!

Outside of the mold issue, the unit was very dirty and worn and had numerous maintenance issues. Tile floors were greasy, mold and mildew in tub, worn out squeaky mattresses, toilet valve that was leaking so toilet kept refilling every few minutes all night long. My kids were practically in tears and it left us with a very negative experience for our time on Anna Maria Island.

Perhaps you'll get a better unit, or if you book in the off season and get a great rate, you can live with it, but for almost $500 per night, I feel like I was robbed.

Service was not very friendly when we checked in. They told us nothing about the resort. I mean absolutely nothing. Took our money and that's all they cared about. The only reason I knew anything about this resort was from previous reviews. It's in a good location to Bridge St. And the trolley picks you up right in front of resort. The pools were very nice and very well heated for February. Definitely appreciated that. The condo we stayed in is way over priced. I did not like that there was not a bathroom in general for people to use. You had to go through either bedroom to get to a bathroom. The floors were filthy. We had to wipe up some water off the floor through the condo due to using the pool. The towel we used was so dirty and disgusting after doing that. All the doors in the condo, including the front door were filthy. Baseboards were disgusting. The A/C would not go below 70 degrees. We asked to have this fixed. Never got done. Thank goodness they had ceiling fans. The lanai outside lights or fan never worked. The beds were comfortable but didn't have an enclosed mattress pad on them. It was an ok experience. This was our first time staying on this island. Not sure how this compares to other little resort inns in this area. The beach was across the street. I have neuropathy and would have never made the trek over to it. Just too far away.
