MAIL : REQUALIFICATION DU CŒUR DE QUARTIER
The second urban renewal programme in the Mail district is at work, for the benefit of its residents, with the aim of creating a renovated and more pleasant living environment. The demolition of the Saint-Exupéry shopping centre creates an opening between the future city centre and the Mail district. The eco-rehabilitation of the buildings on the eastern fringe of the Mail continues. Also concerned the Kennedy sector, located at the northern entrance to the city on the Dijon side, with the aim of improving residential attractiveness and the quality of public spaces and facilities.
Urban renewal better shared with the inhabitants. The 2014 law strengthened the active involvement of residents in the transformation of their living environment in priority areas of urban policy by requiring them to create a citizen council. The city of Chenôve, which has made it a strong focus of its action, has gone beyond this by setting up four participatory bodies throughout the urban territory. Composed of about fifty inhabitants and local actors, they benefit from autonomy and a participatory budget to act. Regular meetings and neighbourhood visits complete this system and demonstrate the desire to be close to the inhabitants.
