NEW CHURCH (NY KIRKE)
The smallest of the island's four round churches, it houses panels depicting the Passion of Christ.
The smallest and most recent of the four round churches on the island. This one, built in the 12th century, is the only one not to have been used as a watchtower during the numerous invasions. In the Middle Ages, it was called Ecclesia Omnium Sanctorum. It was not until 1550 that it became Nykirke: the new church. Inside, on the central pillar, the cycle of the Passion of Christ, 13 panels. Without doubt the most beautiful frescoes of the island (around 1250-1300).
