There is a beautiful story behind this simple and enchanting object - charm and design - for which people fall. It is becoming the mascot of Burgundy, dragging along with it a whole social network: its fans take it on trips around the world with pictures at the beach or in front of a mountain, in India, Egypt... It is incredible! In 2013, Hervé Bégin, a locksmith and metal specialist for some thirty years, asked Julien, his apprentice, to make a series of stylized snails from a steel blade with a welding exercise for horns. The final result was so successful that the locksmith's shop offered it to customers at the end of the year. The success of the gastropod then began… Due to the increasing demand, Gaston l'Escargot is available in different thermo-lacquered colours and in sizes ranging from 2 centimetres to several metres. A patent was even filed because something great was emerging while Véronique Bégin presented it. Decorative, candle-holder, hanger, baby or big Gaston... everyone falls for it. So if you are longing for a Gaston, go to the locksmith's shop in Is-sur-Tille; even better, make an appointment for a visit. Otherwise, buy one on the website or get information about the good local souvenir shops which sell them.
