VIKINGWORLD (VÍKINGAHERMAR)
Museum dedicated to the Vikings, celebrating the Viking millennium through a rich exhibition in Keflavik
This museum, dedicated to the Vikings, opened in 2009 in a modern building to the south of the city. It celebrates the Viking millennium through a rich exhibition. It also recalls the adventure of the Íslendingur, a replica of the 9th-century drakkar that made the Iceland-Greenland-North America voyage. Built in 2000, it set sail to commemorate the 1,000th anniversary of Leifur Eriksson's expedition. The boat is on display next door.
