The Domibilis concept of energy-efficient homes developed by Serge Wrobleski, CEO of Alentour, is now a reality. After several years of research and development and full-scale tests with the construction of prototype houses, Serge Wrobleski has gradually moved away from the all-mineral concept to arrive at a construction principle based on a timber frame embedded in hemp concrete. The patents have been registered, students from Esirem and future materials engineers from the University of Burgundy have worked on the binders, a wood structure design office has validated the wood part and a regional collective has already harvested 30 ha of hemp crops to build up a stock of chenevotte, an essential material for the project. Hemp is blended with a Roman cement composed of air lime and pozzolanic binder. The Domibilis houses will be made up of 3 x 2.40 m, 360 mm thick panels, pre-cut for the openings and equipped with the necessary networks. The exterior will be finished with lime, while the interior will be pre-finished with plaster to respect and exploit the quality of hemp concrete. Two houses were built in 2023 to validate this concept of very healthy, efficient, economical and sustainable homes. Their construction is based on short circuits, with biosourced hemp grown by local farmers as an essential component. In 2024, two new homes have been granted planning permission and will gradually be built. We're at the dawn of a new way of living, in homes that resonate with today's ecological and protective aspirations!
