Geothermal zone known by Icelanders, a path that allows to bypass the bubbling pools, solfataras, fumaroles
This geothermal area, very well known to Icelanders, is located just south of Lake Kleifarvatn. A path leads around the bubbling pools, solfataras, fumaroles and other traces of the activity that takes over the area. In October 1999, the pressure under the ground became so intense that an explosion occurred in the vicinity, creating a crater of no less than 50 m. At Seltun, the area is open to the public, who can marvel at the 200°C water on the surface and the incredible variety of colours that the ground here takes on.
