At the south point stands Mount Valahnúkur, which was styled by the oldest lighthouse of the country, built in 1878 (then rebuilt in 1908). Off (15 km), in fine weather, you will see the large rock (77 m high) that is the island of Eldey, created by volcanic eruptions and known to host a huge colony of bastard of Bassan. His access is forbidden.
