SANTUARIO NOSTRA SIGNORA DI MONTALLEGRO
Shrine to celebrate the apparition of the Virgin Mary to a peasant on a hill.
The Sanctuary was built in 1559 to celebrate the apparition of the Virgin Mary to a peasant on a hill renamed Montallegro (Mount Merry). The marble facade dates from the 19th century. Inside, vaults and altars are richly decorated with frescoes and polychrome marble. On the walls, hundreds of ex-voto statues bear witness to the faith of the faithful and the countless graces obtained. The miraculous image of the Virgin Mary is preserved on the high altar. A remarkable panorama.
