ALTA HOTEL * * * *
Halfway between luxury hotel and boutique hotel, Alta Hotel retains a unique identity with its Spanish colonial style building. Inside, it is a delicate blend of modernity and tradition that has been finely thought of for the decor of the public parts and rooms. The style is refined while being cosy. From lobby to library, there are aircraft pieces reminiscent of the establishment being part of Nature Air. The rooms have a superb view of the Sun Valley, the mountain and the city. On the top floor, a reception room with private kitchen, its patio and fountain make it a privileged place for private evenings and conferences. Finally, the swimming pool and the spa and gym allow you to relax and take care of yourself in a very beautiful setting. The La Luz gourmet restaurant offers a perfect combination of Costa Rican and Mediterranean cuisine.

The room itself was a disappointment. The mattress was very hard, the pillows quite cheap, and the towels and such beyond the point of replacement.
The A/C was broken my entire 4 day stay, and they provided no updates. Each day they said it would be fixed tomorrow, and it was never fixed.
They gave me a 10% discount, but only after I asked for it. They gave me a fan, after I asked for it. They did nothing proactively to help with the situation, which I found disappointing.
Wonderful view, and the restaurant is truly world class, I had some amazingly delicious meals here.
Overall, I might go back for dinner, but I would not stay in this hotel again. In a city where average hotels are $60 - 70/night, for $250/night it should be something special, and was just okay.
