CARNAVAL D'ALOST

One of the most beautiful and colourful Belgian carnivals with processions of giants.
It's a very old tradition and one of Belgium's most famous carnivals, not to be missed under any circumstances. The carnival kicks off with a colorful procession. The following day sees the Gilles "broom dance", followed by the "onion toss" from the top of the belfry. However, the Carnival's image has recently been severely dented, as it has been downgraded from UNESCO's list of intangible heritage sites. The reason? In 2019, Jewish giants will parade with bags of gold and hooked noses..
