On the border of the Patershol district, near the Vrijdagmarkt, there is a quiet alley in the middle of which a whitewashed Ghent house sets the tone. Inside, the restaurant 'T Klokhuys offers fresh oysters and mussels, and dishes such as roast beef in Ghent style, knuckle of ham in mustard sauce and other typical Belgian dishes. Neither a bistro nor a gastro, this brasserie with its bourgeois atmosphere and authentic wooden decoration is a good place to stop for a local meal.
