You may not have the opportunity to go and see a show at the Viernulvier, which manages the artistic program of the Vooruit, but don't miss a break at its café. The Vooruit is the People's Palace that was built by the socialists of Ghent and finished in 1919. The café has kept all the cachet of the beginning of the century: high ceilings, mirrors with Art Deco lines, arches, period tiles... An arty clientele rushes in for a drink, to settle their stomachs with a good filled pistol or to devour a dish of the day. And at democratic prices, comrades!
