HET HUIS VAN ALIJN
Very well documented museum in Ghent, with a nice garden and a pleasant little café, organizing a puppet theater.
Grouping its small white houses around a courtyard reminiscent of a beguinage, this former hospice was founded in the 14th century by members of a wealthy Ghent family, to atone for the murder of one of their own. The Kinderen Alijn (Alijn Children) hospice housed the poor, the elderly and orphans. Today, it houses a well-documented museum of everyday life in 20th-century Flanders and beyond: a variety of utensils, toys and photographs are sure to bring back memories! Also a puppet theater.
