DASKALIDÈS
This nice boutique of the centre of Gant offers Daskalidès chocolates, like some other shops scattered in Belgium, Brussels, Flanders and Wallonia. It was in 1931 that the house established itself. The family of Greek origin Daskalidès-Kestekides arrived at Gant in 1923, eight years before the opening of the Fritz tea lounge on the Veldstraat at the current location of Fnac. This was where the first artisanal chocolates of the Marque and Daskalidès brand were born. It is known that in 1970 Jean Daskalidès took the head of Leonidas before surrendering the brand and taking the reins of Daskalidès. His son Alexander followed in 1987. In 2004 the brand was integrated into the Belgian group Bouchard SEA-Invest. The Ghent boutique offers the high-end chocolates collection of this prestigious house.
