LALAING HUTS
An imposing baroque rococo manor house with a garden, ideal for admiring a magnificent ginkgo biloba tree that is over 150 years old.
The house owes its name to Philippe de Lalaing, governor of the town in the 16th century, who came from a very powerful family that also had a château. Legend has it that this imposing manor house was the birthplace of Charles V's illegitimate daughter, Marguerite de Parme. The façade is very busy, in the Rococo Baroque style, an 18th-century addition. Behind the house lies a magnificent walled garden. Here you can admire a magnificent ginkgo biloba tree, also known as the forty-ecus tree, over 150 years old.
