OFFICE DU TOURISME
Diest is a quiet town in Belgium, near Leuven. It has a long history, dating back to Carolingian times, and is famous for its beguinage. A tour of the town begins on the Grand Place, where you'll find the Tourist Office. Here you can obtain brochures for walking and cycling tours of the old town. As you stroll through the narrow streets, you'll come across the Halle aux Draps, bearing witness to the region's brewing past. Don't miss the Notre-Dame church and the beguinage, a UNESCO World Heritage site. After a visit to the beguinage, stroll along the Demer river to the provincial recreation area "Halve Maan". Finally, you can stay at "The Lodge" hotel, a former refuge of Tongerlo Abbey, offering all modern comforts. The Tourist Office is open daily from 10am to 12pm and from 1pm to 5pm.
