The children's workshop for dream houses was fantastic.

Great to understand colonial past of Belgium in Congo

The artefacts were interesting but not ordered in a story-telling way. There was a lot of written information but limited interactive exhibits. There wasn't much information about the artefacts - where exactly they come from and what is their purpose. There wasn't enough light. The staff was not very friendly and we were not allowed to enter with a backpack with photo equipment although taking photos was allowed.

Royal Museum for Central Africa:

Improvements have been made, and I appreciate the acknowledgement that many of the items were stolen but could still be better.
Such a pity that there's absolutely NO place to buy a coffee or water unless you have cash or want to visit the overpriced bistro... come on, it's 2024. People need water...

The museum in its current state offers little of interest to normal people. Instead it has effectively been transformed into a politically-tinged moral lecture. See photos.

Ciekawe muzeum.

Sehr viel Zeit mitbringen!!!!
What's missing is a serious look at the millions of people who died in under the Congo Free State and the huge population decline that followed it. That is worthy of a museum itself and you won't get sufficient detail here.
There's also no monument on the grounds or on site to the millions who died, were enslaved or the many who were mutilated. What you will find are a few colonial propaganda pieces or statues of Léopold (the man primarily responsible for their suffering).
Go to this museum only if you are interested in the Congo, its culture today or how old propaganda for colonisation operated.
