BROUWERIJ BAVIK
Bavik Pils, Ezel, Petrus, Pilaarbijter, Wittekerke... The Bavik brewery has been part of the Belgian brewing landscape since 1894, which makes it one of the oldest breweries still operating in our country. For many years, a more typical lager has been produced here, which does not really compete with the stars of the market. On the other hand, the Bavik brewery - located in Bavikhove, near Harelbeke - is rightly proud to be, four generations later, one of the last Belgian breweries of respectable size to have always been able to keep its independence. It is also present on the market of special beers, in particular with thePetrus range, as we will see later, or the more recent Pilaarbijter blond and dark. There is also a range of white beers: Wittekerke, Wittekerke Special, Wittekerke Rosé. The latter won a gold medal in Reno, USA for their canned version, while Test-Achats and the Flemish daily Het Nieuwsblad awarded the Premium Pils a prize. More recently, a blonde Kwaremont has been released. It is a top-fermented beer of 6.6% vol. alc. with a sweet, spicy and generous taste. It is also worth mentioning that the Bavikhove brewery still produces a series of table beers, including a Faro and a Pony-stout. Since 27, Bavik has invested 3 million euros in new facilities (brewhouse, fermentation tanks, filling line for the barrels), doubling its brewing capacity. This capacity is now close to 4hl.
