Spectacular museum in Ypres with objects found on the battlefields, paying tribute to the fallen soldiers
This spectacular museum pays tribute to the soldiers who fell in the trenches of the First World War in West Flanders, a war whose consequences for the region were particularly devastating. Bombings, soldiers' daily lives and major events are explained through video testimonies and the presentation of objects found on the battlefields. Visitors are immersed in the soldiers' daily lives.

Very moving

This museum really moved me. There are many graphic photos of death and destruction from the military and civilian population. But what left me emotional was seeing the harsh conditions people had to endure. And for what? Nothing of this horror has changed the world. Ask President Putin, Ask Hamas. Ask any group that wants to start a conflict.
There is a showcase that holds piles of bullet heads, casings and even belt buckles that were recovered from just one field that you realise the enormity of it all.
See for yourself, I could not even take a photo of any displays. To me it would be a mockery.

I spent about two hours at the museum as my time was limited, but it would be wise to allow 3 to 4 hours to view everything properly.
