In the Zwin Park you can observe more than 350 different species of birds and learn all about the migratory cycle in the museum.
This nature reserve, which extends across the Dutch border, was created in 1952 and covers 150 ha. The Zwin is what remains of the estuary that once extended as far as Bruges. A gap in the estuary allows the North Sea to pass through at each tide, via a channel which then branches off to form small creeks. A paradise for marine birdlife, wading birds and coastal birds, as well as the reintroduced storks that have settled here. The visitor center features an exciting interactive exhibition and a wide range of activities.
