Le Damier is Kortrijk's historic hotel, right on the Grand Place! The eighteenth-century façade is already imposing, and when you step inside, you discover a plush, manor-style interior befitting the place. Many famous people have stayed here: the first King of the Belgians, Leopold II, Victor Hugo and, closer to home, Adamo and Queen Paola. The rooms reflect the bourgeois comfort evoked by the lobby: floor-to-ceiling carpets, wooden furniture, plush king-size beds and brass sconces. A real trip back in time. The breakfast is succulent.
