SAN MARTIN CHURCH
Church built on a Romanesque church, with a Gothic bell tower, and housing some paintings by painters
Built in the 15th century, it replaces a Gothic church, itself built on top of a 7th-century Romanesque church. It is a more imposing building, with a triple nave, in the "hall church" style. The 83-meter bell-tower is in the purest Brabant Gothic style. The church is home to a number of paintings by Flemish artists: Gaspard de Crayer'sAdoration of the Magi (1630), Jean-Érasme Quellin's St. Francis in Contemplation of the Holy Cross (1688) and Karel van Mander's Martyrdom of St. Catherine (16th century). Its 49-bell carillon marks the hours.
